A History of Faith Baptist Church of Titusville
Faith Baptist Church was founded on January 29, 1989. Sunday Morning services were first held Sunday mornings at the KOA Campground in Mims, Florida; evening services were held in homes. Soon the church began to meet in the McCotter Ford Warehouse. Dr. Jeff Stiles was called as the first pastor, and on April 2, 1989, the formal organizational service was held with 15 pastors present. In June 1990, the church began to meet in the Carpenter's Union Hall for services.
In January of 1993 the land at 1220 North Carpenter Road was purchased with an official ground breaking on October 17, 1993. Work had begun on the current facility; it would not be completed until 1995. We paid off the note on the Carpenter Road facility in late 1999. God blessed us in 2013 with the addition of a modular for children's ministry.
In the final days of 1998, the Lord brought us Jeremy Coppock to co-pastor alongside Pastor Stiles. Pastor Stiles retired a few weeks later and the church called Jeremy Coppock to be the new pastor in the early weeks of 1999. Pastor Coppock has now been our pastor for 21 years. The church has grown as Pastor Coppock and his family have grown. Pastor and Dana now have three children: Jeremy, Chloe and Matthew. In 2012 Christopher and Stacy Garrison joined us. Chris serves as our Worship Leader and Youth Pastor. In his last eight years, Pastor Garrison has become indispensable to our ministry.
We have always meant to specialize in the ministry of the Word of God. Regular Bible Fellowship and age appropriate studies are continually being offered. Many efforts are made to provide the environment and teaching necessary to nurture FBC's future leaders; these include special classes for youth and children, yearly youth camp, Bible school, Children's Church, and more.
Through the years Faith Baptist has consistently invested in missions and missionaries on all parts of the globe. A Missions Conference is held annually where we refocus and recommit to another year of outreach. We have made many mission trips: 2001 (Bahamas); 2003 (Burma); 2004 (Mexico); 2005 (The Philippines); 2006 (Cambodia); 2007 (Haiti); 2008 (Scotland); 2009 (Suriname); 2010 (Kenya); 2011 (Bearing Precious Seed); 2012 (Haiti); 2013 (Lithuania); 2015 (Bahamas); 2019 (Colombia). We hope to increase our presence in Asia in the next few years as well as intensifying our efforts to share the Gospel in our own community.
Faith Baptist has had steady growth over these years as God has added many dedicated believers to our church. We have witnessed God's plentiful goodness, and He has abundantly provided what we have needed to carry on His work. As much as anything, the Lord seems to have always blessed this church with an excellent spirit. There is always a sense of expectation because of what God is doing here. There is continually a sense that God is here and that He is working. We are humbled by His hand and still hopeful as we anticipate future blessings.
While we are quite content for God's provision in our current building, over the last few years the church has focused on raising funds for future growth. We began setting aside funds for what we call the NextMove. The NextMove Fund reached $100,000 only a few days ago. Additonally, we have been careful to underspend in order to prepare for a move. Though there are not specific plans for this move, we are confident of its inevitability. Still, we will continue to trust the Lord for His timing and provision.
As Faith Baptist Church looks to the future, our focus will always remain on making disciples of Jesus Christ. We will continue to lead followers of Jesus to Know God, to Grow in Grace, and to Show Christ--all for the glory of God. We praise God for the privilege of 31 years of ministry in Titusville and its surrounding communities.
