The birth of Faith Baptist Church occurred on January 29, 1989, when the charter members voted to form the new church and called Dr. Jeff Stiles as pastor. At first, the group met on Sunday mornings at the KOA Campground Fellowship Hall in Mims, Florida. Evening services were held at members’ homes. After eight weeks, the McCotter Ford warehouse became available. On April 2, 1989, the formal organizational service was held with 15 pastors present.
Then in June, 1990, Faith Baptist Church signed a lease for the Carpenter’s Union Hall renting a space in the building for Sunday and Wednesday services. On January 11, 1993, Brevard County granted Faith Baptist Church a Conditional Use Permit, and three weeks later the church purchased the land at 1220 North Carpenter Road. The official ground breaking was held on October 17, 1993, following the morning worship service; and Pastor Stiles led a dedication ceremony. While the church awaited the approval of building permits, they spent their Saturdays cultivating the grounds and landscaping.
In 1994 and 1995 members and contractors constructed the present building. Once the metal building was erected church members and friends completed the majority of the interior work. The first service in the new building was held on Wednesday evening, May 17, 1995 and the first Sunday service was held on May 21st. We paid off the note on the Carpenter Road facility in late 1999. God blessed us in 2013 by adding the back deck and modular allowing us to expand our Bible Fellowship.
In 1999, Pastor Stiles retired, and the Lord brought Jeremy Coppock to us as our new pastor. The church has witnessed the young pastor mature in his ministry and watched as the family has grown. Pastor and Dana now have three children: Jeremy, Chloe and Matthew. In 2010 God gave us Jeremy and Joy Tyler with their Avery and Twila; Jeremy is our Student Pastor. In 2012 Chris Garrison joined us as our Worship Leader; his wife is Stacy and daughters are Noelle and Kaylee.
Through the years, Faith Baptist has steadily invested missions; we currently support many missionaries that are spread all over the globe. A Missions Conference is held annually as we hear preaching and fellowship with missionary guests. Pastor Coppock and others have participated in mission trips: 2001-Bahamas, 2003-Burma, 2004-Mexico, 2005-Phillippines, 2006-Cambodia, 2007-Haiti, 2008-Scotland, 2009-Suriname, 2010-Kenya, and 2011-Bearing Precious Seed, 2012-Haiti, 2013-Lithuania. Information, updates and current events at each of the missions are available on the back wall of the church.
Many student opportunities provide the environment and teaching necessary to nurture Faith’s future leaders; these include yearly youth camp, Bible school, Harvest Festival, and more. In addition to Bible Fellowship, Children’s Church meets each Sunday morning.
Each year we have an anniversary celebration, we enjoy many other church-wide activities such as our Memorial Day and Labor Day picnics. Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas and Easter Concerts. In the Spring we have revival services with guest evangelists who bring inspiring messages to encourage rededication and spiritual growth.
Faith Baptist has had steady growth over these years as God had added many dedicated believers to our church. We have witnessed God’s abundant goodness and He has abundantly provided what we need to carry on His work. As Faith Baptist Church looks to the future, our goal remains to make disciples in order to lead them to Know God, to Grow in Grace, and to Show Christ—all to the glory of God.
